Nature has always been a major source of inspiration for every generation of Buccellati designers. The Magnolia brooch, originally crafted in yellow gold, made its debut in the 1980s, designed specifically for the prestigious Wako department store in Tokyo. Following its success, Gianmaria Buccellati introduced a new design of this flower in the 1990s, featuring petals in white gold and stamens in yellow gold. In 2002, the brooch was enhanced with diamonds on its stamens, while in 2004, it was further adorned with a central pearl or precious gemstones.

Since the Magnolia, many other flowers have joined Buccellati’s collections, such as carnations, lotuses, frangipanis, sunflowers, and daffodils, as well as the most delicate anemones and clematis. These creations are united by the distinctive segrinato engraving technique. This entirely handcrafted method involves engraving overlapping lines in different directions, bringing movement to the petals and creating a soft, realistic texture. Thanks to the collaboration of two generations of artisans, this expertise has been preserved and passed down to future generations
